Aaron at 5

Here's a look at Aaron at 5 years old:

- Aaron weighs 46 pounds (76th percentile) and is 42 and 1/4 inches tall (34th percentile).  He wears mostly size 5T or XS (4-5) clothes  and size 10 1/2 (wide) shoes.  He likes to choose his own clothes (but doesn't really mind if I pick them out either) and still really like to wear pants and shorts that have elastic waists.  His favorite clothes are his Lego and Star Wars shirts.

-Aaron went to school at St James Lutheran in Lincoln Park until October and then transferred to St John's Lutheran in La Grange when we moved.  He really enjoyed both of the schools and made friends very easily.  He is definitely more drawn to being friends with boys and likes to participate in active play, rough housing, and building things.  Aaron does very well in school, but has to be reminded at times by his teachers to listen and stay on task, especially if he is seated next to a friend!  He is getting very interested in reading ad tries to sound things out and remember how simple words look in print and ask how to spell things so he can write them out.  Aaron really seems to enjoy math concepts and will talk about ask about addition and subtraction problems.

-Aaron continues to LOVE Legos and can play for hours!  He loves to build sets and he also really enjoys freestyle building and just coming up with his own ideas for things to create.  Building is a favorite past time- he also loves building with magnatiles and he constantly combines them in play with his Legos.

-Aaron loves to play outside and enjoys sports.  He loves to play on the swing set in the back yard and picking up rocks to catch the bugs underneath.  We have several containers outside to keep the interesting bugs that he finds!  Aaron is taking a basketball class this summer that he really enjoys and will be doing swim lessons in July.  Aaron loves to be in the water and has so much fun at the pool!  He is getting very comfortable and looking forward to learning to swim better this summer!

-Aaron goes to bed at night around 8 and usually wakes up between around 6-6:30.  He usually goes to play with his Legos before anyone else is even out of bed!

-Aaron continues to enjoy movies and tv shows, when he's allowed to watch.  His favorite tv shows are Jake & the Neverland Pirates, Phineas & Ferb, Ninjago, and Octonauts.  Favorite moves include the Star Wars movies (he's seen 3-6 so far, I think), Hotel Transylvania, and really any other kids movie!  He loves to play games on the iPad as well and enjoys Angry Birds Star Wars and anything Star Wars or Lego.

-Aaron enjoys playing with his cousins and friends.  Some of the friends that he likes to play with outside of school are Connor, Asher, and Katelyn.  Some of his favorite school friends are Luke, Declan, Brixton,  and Ryan.

-Aaron is generally well behaved, but has to be do things that are asked of him and not try to negotiate with us.  He is going through a "know it all" stage right now, which is rather annoying.  Anytime you tell him something, he says, "yeah, I knew that."  We are working on breaking this habit!

-Aaron is funny, smart, curious, active, and loving!  He challenges us daily and keeps us on our toes, but we wouldn't have it any other way.  We are lucky parents to this awesome 5 year old boy!

Aaron's 5th birthday

Aaron chose french toast for his birthday breakfast.  He told me, "not the kind that you put in the toaster, but the kind that you make, Mom!"  :)  The special birthday detail was that they had sprinkles on the top

Maggie enjoyed the birthday breakfast too!
Tanya was in town visiting, so she gave him his birthday presents at breakfast time, before school!  What a great way to start the day- he got TWO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Lego sets!!

Posing with Maggie.  Aaron chose ice cream sandwiches to take for his birthday treats to school.
Our 5 year old boy!  He's worn this birthday shirt for, I believe, three years in a row!

After school Aaron got to decide what he wanted for dinner and he chose to open presents first and then order pizza, so he could stay home and build some of his Lego sets!

He got quite the haul of Lego sets for his birthday.  Two from Tanya, two from Mommy & Daddy, one from Maggie, and one from Asher!  Plus a bike from Nanny & Papa and a light sabre and Darth Vader mask from Connor!

Aaron's 5th birthday party

Aaron decided to have  a Lego party at our house for his 5th birthday!  He invited his 2 best buddies, Asher & Connor (plus their younger siblings and parents, ofcourse) for a "Master Builder Academy".  Aaron chose a Lego set that they would build (The Lone Ranger- Camanche Camp) and each boy had his own set while Tim (the Master Builder) and their dads helped them construct the set.  They had a blast and all enjoyed their new Lego set!

Kate helped me put the finishing touches on the cake and we thought it turned out pretty well!
