Happy 4th Birthday Aaron!

It's hard to believe that our "little" boy is 4 years old!  We are thankful each and every day that our lives are blessed with his presence.  Here's a snapshot of Aaron at 4 years old:

- Aaron weighs 39 pounds (75th percentile) and is 39 and 3/4 inches tall (25th to 50th percentile).  He wears mostly size 4T clothes (as well as a few 3T and 5T items) and size 9 1/2 - 10 (wide) shoes.  He likes to choose his own clothes and still really like to wear sweat pants and t-shirts, but isn't as opposed to wearing jeans as he used to be!  Aaron's favorite clothes are his Spiderman/Superman/Cars shirts, his Northwestern jersey, and his Batman/Spiderman/Superman socks!  He seems to be hot blooded, like his Daddy, and takes off his pajama pants almost every night after he goes to bed.  He is fully potty trained and rarely ever has an accident, but still wears pull ups to bed at this point.

-Aaron's language skills are amazing and he speaks in long and complex sentences and has an excellent vocabulary.  He loves to read books and can re-tell stories very well.  If you are reading him a familiar book and you leave out a word or use a word that isn't actually part of the text in the book, he will quickly correct you!

-Aaron can write his first name and is working on writing his last name.  He goes to preschool full time at the Goddard School and really enjoys learning new things and being with his friends.  He's starting to get a little more interested in learning to read and is starting to hone his sound segmenting and blending skills.  He knows all of the sounds that the letters make and can do rhyming words really well.

-Aaron loves legos and will play with them for long periods of time. He can follow the directions to build small lego sets independently, but loves to do the bigger sets with his Dad.  He enjoys all kinds of building toys and loves to create with bristle blocks and tinker toys too.  The complex things that he builds are amazing!

-Aaron loves to play outside and enjoys playing with balls and bats, sticks and dirt... all things boy!  He has a very active imagination and it's so fun to hear and see all of the things that he comes up with.

-Aaron goes to bed at night around 8 and usually wakes up between 5:45 and 6:30.  When he wakes up in the morning, he's usually ready to hit the ground running and wants to go find some toys to play with.

-Aaron loves Friday movie nights and enjoys watching tv shows.  Some of Aaron's favorite movies are Cars 1 and 2, Bugs Life, Toy Story (1-3), and Smurfs.  Some of his favorite tv shows are Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, Little Einsteins, and Dr. Seuss.

-Aaron enjoys playing with his cousins and friends.  Some of the friends that he likes to play with outside of school are Connor, Asher, and Katelyn.  Some of his favorite school friends are Sam, Ruby, Max, Parker, and Luke.

-Aaron is really interested in Super Heroes and Star Wars (due to some friends at school). He hasn't ever seen Star Wars, but he has picked out a Star Wars book at the school book fair last year and this year and he loves to read them.  He has to be reminded a lot that we don't like for him to play guns or "shooting", as that is definitely an interest right now.

-Aaron is generally well behaved, but has to be reminded to listen the first time that we ask him to do something and not to whine.  He will often try to "negotiate" with us and has to be reminded to do as we ask. His punishment for not following the rules is to sit in time out, have a toy put in the "penalty box" and at times to get his television privileges taken away.

Aaron is the most amazing 4 year old boy ever!  We're so lucky to have been blessed with him as our son.

Family pictures

We recently had photos done of Aaron and Maggie, since they were both turning a year older, and decided to have some taken of our family too.  This is the first time we've had family photos done and we were really happy with they way they turned out!

Easter fun at Nanny & Papa's house

We went to Iowa to celebrate Easter with my family and had a great time! Here is a look at the Easter egg hunt at Nanny & Papa's house on Saturday. Amy hid the eggs, 10 eggs for each kiddo, each child having a different color. She hid the ones for the big boys so well that one of them couldn't be found by any of us!
