Happy 2nd birthday, Maggie!

It's hard to believe that it has been 2 years since we welcomed Maggie Lynn into our family!  She has brought us so much joy and is becoming an amazing little girl.  We're so proud to be her parents!

Maggie is an active, energetic, loving, and inquisitive little lady. She can be heard asking "why" hundreds of times per day!  She is a talker and is speaking in 3-8 word sentences.  Maggie's vocabulary is tremendous and makes her SLP Mommy very proud!  She's still a "me monster" and hasn't gotten her pronouns all worked out yet, but she'll get them eventually! Her voice melts my heart, it's so adorable and girly sounding, and her speech errors are hilarious!  She glides her r's so they sound like w's and reduces or substitutes other sounds for her clusters.  My favorites are "spicy" is "ficy" and "smurfette" is "furfette"!

Maggie is getting so tall and looking so mature with her long hair!  Maggie wears a size 2T pants, 2T-3T shirts, and size 7 1/2- 8 shoes.

She is a sharp cookie and is learning new things everyday.  Maggie can count to 12 and can usually count with 1 to 1 correspondence to about 5 or 6.  She can count to 10 in Spanish as well.  She can sing her ABC's and can identify all of her colors and basic shapes.  Maggie loves to read books and will sit forever and listen.  She can finish sentences in the stories and even "read" a few books on her own.

Maggie LOVES to sing and knows the words to tons of songs.  If she's unhappy or doesn't want to do something, singing a song or making the task into a song can almost always make her happy and cooperative!  She loves to dance, especially to the soundtracks from Rio and Despicable Me.  Maggie enjoys our Friday movie nights and likes to watch tv shows, especially Little Einsteins, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Micky Mouse Clubhouse.  She is very social and loves to play with Aaron and her friends.  Her favorite toys to play with are games (Pop Up Pirate, Old MacDonald, Pengaloo, Hide and Seek), bristle blocks, legos, play dough, coloring/painting, and pushing her babies in the stroller and feeding them.

Maggie is a lover and enjoys giving hugs, kisses, and high fives to family and friends.  She is a wonderful friend and enjoys sharing, most of the time.  She has recently developed some fears of people that she doesn't know (particularly men) and dogs/cats.  (She was really afraid of our financial planner when he came to our house and didn't want to separate from me while he was there.  She was really afraid of the music teacher at school when he first started coming to their class, even though she loves music.  She's very interested in cats and dogs, but if they get anywhere near her, she cowers in fear.  When she first met Amy and Dan's new puppy, Milly, she standing on her own and was so afraid that she dropped to the ground, curled up in the fetal position, and cried!  Milly just licked her!)

Going to bed and staying in bed all night has become a challenge. For awhile, she was wanting to sleeping Aaron's bed with him.  Now she is back in her bed and doing a little better, but Maggie really likes to sleep in our bed.  She will get up and turn the light on in their bedroom and call my name over and over.  When I come into their bedroom, she will tell me, "me go Mommy and Daddy's bed".  If the door is open, she will bring her pillow, blanket, and a stuffed animal and do her best to get into our bed on her own!  We generally try to keep her in her own bed until at least 4-5 am and then after that, cave and let her in ours.  Some nights she stays in her bed all night and some nights she gets up.

Maggie has been potty training for about a month now and is doing just great!  She hardly ever has pee accidents and is slowly learning how to put the poop in the toilet too!  That's been quite a bit more challenging and we often catch her in the "poop stance" (she bends at the waist and sticks her behind out when she has to go poop) and then rush her to the bathroom!  She has pooped in the potty a few times and we make a big, big deal out of it and she gets very proud!

Maggie is starting to develop her sense of humor and is such a funny little girl.  She loves to make funny faces and talk in a goofy voice, especially when she can see herself in the mirror!  She enjoys laughing and calling things "silly".   Here are a few recent Maggie funnies!

*A few days ago, Maggie get up in the morning, came into the bathroom where I was, and said to me (with a straight face), "I come in peace!"  I laughed at her and she then told me that she heard that on Rio!  (I am pretty sure that it's Buzz Lightyear line!)

*When Maggie has an accident in her undies, she apologizes to whatever character is on her underwear.  "I sorry, Smurfette!"  "I sorry, Elmo!"  Hilarious!

*Tonight I asked her a question and she answered, "No way Jose!"  It's really hard not to laugh at her sometimes!
